The 2012 Rigby Stampede Days Parade was fantastic! A special thanks to the Stowell family for bringing their antique steam tractor to pull our float.
Styling Days at Paul Mitchell Beauty School
Paul Mitchell students are great at teaching hair styling techniques and pampering our clients. We love visiting them!
Kids Take Charge!
The month of May was a crazy one with spring trying to show its head and school coming to a close. The kids were antsy and sick of school and everything so we put them to work...planning fun activities. Here is a small glimpse of what they came up with.
Eggs... Eggs... Everywhere!
Spring has seemed to take a while getting here and is making everyone itch for summer. On one of the bright, sunny days we had in April guess who stopped by...the Easter Bunny! Though no one really saw him visit, his eggs and treats were found in high and low places and enjoyed by all ages.
Journeys Welcomes Rebecca Shepard as our new DS
Rebecca grew up in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she first learned
to love recreation and the outdoors, especially when with her family. She
attended BYU – Idaho and studied Recreation Management with minors in Biology
and Psychology. After finishing an internship in 2011 with the Recreation
Therapy Department at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland, Rebecca
completed her Recreation Therapist certification. She loves to read, hike, and
juggle, and is excited to share her love of recreation with others at Journeys.
Rebecca will be a DS at the Rigby Adult Center.
Group Antics
Equipped with cameras and creativity, some of our Rigby Groups sought out their favorite photo spots in Idaho Falls. Can you recognize all of their locations?

We Found Winter!
Although it has been a very mild winter for us here in town, we learned that snow is only a short drive away!
Let Them Speak, and then Listen
Acceptance has been something we've been discussing a lot lately, and as we apply it in our therapy on a new level we've seen amazing responses from the children and adults we serve. Everyone wants to be accepted, no matter who they are and whether they have a disability or not. As those who support individuals with disabilities, it's up to us to lead our communities by SHOWING we accept these incredible people whole heartedly. That includes giving them opportunities to express themselves in any way AND responding. By doing this, we often get pleasant surprises of how smart, funny and talented the people of Journeys are, but we've got to give them the opportunity and show that we accept them first.

Kids Choice
Throughout the fall we had each kid at the Rexburg center be in charge of a group activity for everyone. It was so fun to see what they all came up with and how it played out! Activities ranged from human foosball to tours of Sugar City, learning and competing with BeyBlades, sugar cookie candy canes and so much more.
The activities were super fun and the kids did great stepping up to teach their peers about what they love to do and how to participate.
Intense Musical Chair Competitions
Potato Car Races
Human Knot Races
Rubberband Cars
Games at the Park
Fishing at Beaver Dick Park
